I appreciate that your entire platform is predicated upon fear mongering and shaming but at least be more subtle about it.  Your pro-life stance extends only so far as a live birth and from there what do you care. I don’t see you volunteering to put together education funds for these kids, to make sure that their mothers have the skills they need to get jobs that can support a family, to pay for counselling in the cases of a rape which ended in pregnancy. I don’t see you sticking around for the next  twenty odd years to make sure that this kid’s life is worth living.

My uterus is none of your fucking business. If you’re “pro-life” you should just unfollow me right now. A woman’s right to choose what happens to her own body isn’t something we should be debating. 

Keep your political/religious/bullshit agendas out of my body, please.

This is what I like to refer to as Helms’ Law. It’s the September 11th/terrorism version of Godwin’s Law. I named it after retired Senator Jesse Helms who wrote in his memoir:

I don’t need to respect someone’s opinion that is based on my worth as a human being. The pro-life stance will always, ALWAYS put me below a fetus and I ain’t having that. Simply having an opinion about something doesn’t automatically mean you are worthy of respect.

I am a human being who is capable of making my own decisions about my well-being, health, and sexual choices. Someone’s opinion on how I should make those decisions isn’t worthy of respect when their opinion is basically that I need to make a decision THEY want rather than what would be best FOR ME.

If your opinion is that I should carry a pregnancy to term and give birth to a child that was conceived because of rape, you’re a fucking asshole and unworthy of my respect.

If your opinion is that I should carry a pregnancy to term and give birth to a child that I am incapable of caring for whether it be emotionally, financially, or simply because I don’t want to, then you’re an asshole and unworthy of respect.

If your opinion is that I should carry a pregnancy until it will kill me (and the fetus) because that’s REAL love, then you are an asshole and unworthy of respect.

This idea that MY opinion should be respected simply because it’s MINE is absurd and it indicates a level of privilege. Only the privileged would think that their opinions are worthy of respect even though they literally oppress and hurt people. You don’t get to oppress me and then tell me I need to respect you. It doesn’t work that way. If you respected me in the first place, you wouldn’t have such an oppressive opinion. If you saw me as a full and equal human being, you wouldn’t have such an oppressive opinion.

Not all opinions are worthy of respect.
